Daniel Cormier puts his belt on the line against Oezdemir at UFC 220

Now it's official. Verbally agreed more than a month ago, the confrontation between the champion Daniel Cormier e Volkan oezdemir will, in fact, happen. Ultimate has made the fight for the light heavyweight belt official for the main attraction of UFC 220, an event that will take place on January 20th, in Boston (USA).

The fight was threatened not to happen after the Swiss challenger had problems with the police, due to a fight he got into in a bar. The extra-octagon confusion, however, did not influence the choice of organization.

Knocked out by Jon Jones In July of this year, Cormier, 38 years old, regained the light heavyweight belt after the executioner was again caught in an anti-doping test, being automatically removed from the position. Previously, DC had reached the top for the first time in 2015, when it finished Anthony Johnson. He defended his title against Alexander Gustafson, at UFC 192, and again against Johnson, at UFC 210, in addition to winning Anderson Silva in a fight that wasn't worth the title, at UFC 200.

Volkan oezdemir, 28 years old, had a meteoric rise in the UFC. He arrived at the organization in February this year, but has already had three wins at home. The debut was beaten by points Ovince St Preux. In the sequence, two lightning knockouts over Misha Cirkunov, in May, and Jimi Manuwa, in July, totaling a measly 70 seconds of performance. In total, there are 15 wins and only one defeat in his professional record.

Returning after more than two years of suspension, experienced lightweight Gleison Tibau faces Islam makhachev, Thomas almeida measure forces with Rob font in the roosters, the fly Alexandre pantoja is looking for his third consecutive victory against Dustin Ortiz and Francimar Bodão is looking for a recovery against Gian Villante, in a duel valid for the light heavyweight category.
