Taekwondo: CBTK disputes result and says Falavigna won gold in Hamburg

The Brazilian Taekwondo Confederation issued an official statement yesterday contesting the result of the Hamburg Open published on the event's website.

According to the page, Brazilian Natália Falavigna was defeated by Croatian Sandra Saric in the final and ended up with the silver medal in the under-72 kg category, but CBTK says she was champion.

The entity disputes the result and asks that the tournament's official website retract, confirming the Brazilian's victory in the dispute.

See below the full official note signed by Mauro Hideki Fujiyama, technical coordinator of the permanent Olympic taekowndo team:

The Brazilian Taekwondo Confederation, through its Technical Department, hereby rectifies the result published erroneously on the website of the 2008 Hamburg Open (German Open), held on the 9th. According to the organization of the event, the athlete Natália Falavigna had won the silver medal in the competition. However, the Brazilian athlete was champion of the event in the up to 72kg category.

The event organizing committee has already been asked to correct this error.

We also take the opportunity to congratulate the entire team: Pan Sun Chun, Carlos Negrão, Fernando Madureira and the athletes Débora Nunes, bronze medalist at the Test Event in Beijing and Marcio Wenceslau, bronze medalist at the 2008 Hamburg Open.
