Through his social networks, Spider left a message in Portuguese and English, thanking his fans for their support and saying that he intends to update them step by step on the process that will discover what happened in his positive test.
“To all my fans. Thank you for all the support you gave me this week, it means a lot to me and my family. I just wanted to keep you updated on what's going on at the moment. My medical team is working very closely with USADA to find out why UFC China was suspended. We hope to have news soon. I have been fighting for almost 20 years, always trying to be an example for my fans and the sport. I want to thank all of you for your support and I will see you soon in the next fight,” wrote Anderson.
With the Brazilian's departure from the main fight of UFC China, the North American Kelvin Gastelum will now face Michael Bisping on November 25th. Interestingly, Gastelum himself was forced to leave the duel with Spider earlier, due to marijuana use during the competition. The two would face each other at UFC 212 in Rio de Janeiro before KG was suspended.
