Bellator signs deal with Spike TV

For years, Spike TV broadcast UFC events in the United States, but after the organization chaired by Dana White reached a commercial agreement with Fox, the broadcaster is not thinking about removing MMA from its programming schedule.

Spike announced this Tuesday that it will broadcast the Bellator preliminaries on its official website. Bellator currently has a contract in place with MTV and would not be able to pass on the content to Spike.

“We are thrilled to join forces with Spike TV,” said Bjorn Rebney, president of Bellator. In turn, Erik Flannigan, executive vice president of Skype, was excited about the new partnership.

“Spike’s brand is synonymous with MMA around the world. Fight fans have been coming to our website to display more information about the sport. We are happy to provide good fights live every week”, said the broadcaster’s representative.

The first broadcast on the Spike TV website will take place at Bellator 49, an event that takes place on September 10th, in Atlanta, in the United States. On the preliminary card, the Brazilian Alexandre “Popó” Bezerra will face off against Scott Heckman. On the main card, Brazilian athletes Luis “Sapo” and Douglas will make their debuts in the organization's welterweight GP.
