St. Pierre receives 45-day medical suspension after UFC 217

Despite the undisputed victory over Michael Bisping in the main fight of UFC 217 last Saturday (4), Georges St Pierre received a larger medical hook than his rival. The New York Athletic Commission released, this Wednesday (8), the list of suspensions imposed by its medical team on the fighters of the historic event and GSP received 45 days of suspension, while former champion Bisping is out for 30 days.

This means that the new middleweight champion will not be able to return to the octagon during this period. Unlike most commissions, the New York organization does not disclose details of the suspensions, but it is speculated that the cut above the Canadian's left eye, thanks to an elbow from Bisping's guard, is responsible for the prolonged suspension.

In addition to St. Pierre, Stephen Thompson he will also be forced to stay out of the UFC for a month and a half. “Wonderboy” dominated and won Jorge masvidal by unanimous decision in the main portion of the event, but received the 45-day hook anyway.
