Conor McGregor denied any rumors that he was already thinking about his retirement. After earning a salary of US$100 million in his super fight with Floyd Mayweather, the Irishman is not thinking about hanging up his gloves, as was once speculated. In fact, the UFC champion said that he is still very young from the point of view of damage acquired in his fights and, therefore, he plans on continuing to fight for a long time.

But “Notorious”, who has already expressed concern about possible brain damage in boxers and MMA fighters, revealed that his retirement will be decided just when he feels he has “taken too much”.

“I'm 29 years old and I reached the top of the top, of course, without ease. Worked hard. And most people don't see the wars that go on in the gym while I prepare for fights. I've been through very tough training camps in a row, but I think that, compared to other people in the fighting world, I haven't acquired a lot of damage yet. I've never been knocked down, I've only been dizzy once in my career. In the fight with Mayweather, I was overcome by fatigue, I didn't get dizzy, I didn't see stars even once. The only time I actually got dizzy was the first fight with Nate diaz. That was the only hard blow I took in my career”, declared McGregor, in an interview with the Irish program The Late Late Show, also guaranteeing that he could retire “yesterday” if he wanted, because of the money he had already saved.

“I could end this all yesterday if I wanted. Do you know what I say? I don't plan for retirement and I don't even think about a certain date or age. I think in terms of how much damage I acquired in fights. This is the real danger of combat sports”, he concluded.
