The triumphant return of Georges St Pierre at UFC 217, last Saturday (04), he excited and surprised a lot of people, but one person in question guarantees that he was not impressed. Robert whittaker, interim middleweight champion, minimized the performance of the Canadian, who submitted Michael Bisping and won the linear belt in the under-84kg category. Although he didn't like St. Pierre's performance, Whittaker made a point of highlighting his admiration for his possible next opponent. For him, the possibility of facing GSP, which, according to Dana White, could happen in February 2018, is the realization of a personal dream.
“I have no words to describe it. I was a big fan of his when I was younger, I was a welterweight, in fact. Every welterweight in the world wanted to become something like what he became. If I have the privilege of fighting him? Man, it’s a dream come true,” he concluded.
Robert whittaker, just 26 years old, won the interim middleweight belt in July this year, when he beat Yoel romero by unanimous decision. Before, he had won seven consecutive victories, including knockouts over Derek Brunson e Ronaldo Jacare. TUF Smashes champion in the welterweight division (under 77kg), he has nine wins and two losses in the organization.
