Known for being one of the main training partners for Conor McGregor, featherweight Artem Lobov used as much sincerity as possible to assess his current career situation. With two consecutive defeats, the most recent last October when he was dominated by André Fili at UFC Poland, the Russian-born Irishman admits that he has not been worthy of a contract with the organization, to the point of admitting that his dismissal would be fair.

“Now that I've lost to Fili – and that's no disrespect to him – but now with two losses in a row, and the last one wasn't to a very good guy, I think other people in my situation would be fired. If someone didn't deserve to be in the UFC, in the past I was always the first guy to point it out to them, so now I feel like I don't deserve a UFC contract. It's only fair that I'm fired too,” said Lobov in an interview with the 'MMA Fighting' website.

Despite the sincerity in recognizing the bad phase, The Russian Hammer, as he is known, guarantees that he cannot explain the reason why the victories have not appeared. According to him, his training performance is not reflected inside the Octagon.

“I bring the toughest sparring partners you can imagine and I’m going through the guys. Honestly, I'm destroying people in sparring, but for some reason I wasn't able to show my full potential in the UFC”, said the fighter, who has already expressed plans for his next steps.

“It’s not just boxing that I’m considering fighting, there’s also K-1. That's something I've always liked. When I fought for the first time in K-1, I knocked out a guy in two minutes. That might be attractive to me too.” he concluded.

TUF 22 finalist, Artem Lobov, 31, has an unusual feat for athletes from large organizations: a negative record. In 29 professional fights, there are 13 wins, 14 losses, one draw and one unsuccessful duel. In the UFC, there are four negative results and two positive results.
