Former welterweight champion, Georges St Pierre returned after four years of retirement and became the new owner of the middleweight belt with an apotheotic victory over Michael Bisping. After an excellent first round, GSP tired in the second round, but came back well in the third, knocked Bisping down with a punch and submitted the Englishman, putting him out with a rear naked choke.

St. Pierre got off to an encouraging start, landing jabs and low kicks and leaving Bisping confused with his movement and quickness. Little by little, however, the Englishman entered the fight and, despite being taken down in the third round, he landed a hard elbow on GSP, which opened a cut and spurted blood from the challenger. With that, the Canadian went up and landed a hard hook, which knocked Bisping down. From then on, St. Pierre used his excellent jiu-jitsu to erase the Englishman.
