MMA continues to break records and gain more space in Brazil. UFC Rio, an event held this Saturday in the capital of Rio de Janeiro, was highlighted on social media with quotes referring to the fights or fighters. According to Buzzmetrics, a tool from IBOPE and the Nielsen Institute for social media analysis, more than 108 thousand messages related to UFC Rio were identified.
In February this year, another event was highlighted on the network: UFC 126 generated 100 thousand messages on the day of the event, when Anderson Silva faced Vitor belfort. At the time, the fight had more mentions than the fire in Cidade do Samba, in Rio de Janeiro, and the political movements in Egypt.
The content of messages about UFC Rio was quite varied, but with emphasis on messages that expressed Internet users' expectations regarding the fights that would take place. The owner of the middleweight belt, Anderson Silva, was the most anticipated.
