Without fighting since July, when he suffered the second defeat of his career, Thomas almeida intends to return to Ultimate before the end of the year. And the bantamweight already knows the date he wants to fight, and the opponent he wants to face. When challenged through social media by brian kelleher, the Brazilian responded positively and asked the two to arrange the fight for UFC Winnipeg, an event on December 16th.

The American Kelleher fought last weekend, knocking out Damian Stasiak at UFC Poland on Saturday (21) and made a point of challenging Thominhas, asking for the fight initially for UFC 219, on December 30th. However, the Brazilian responded to Kelleher's challenge, asking that the duel be “scheduled” for UFC Winnipeg.
Even though there is no official agreement for the fight, Ultimate usually arranges fights between athletes who challenge each other on social media, so Thominhas, who comes from a training season in Thailand, can prepare to face Kelleher.
UFC Winnipeg will feature a duel between two former world champions in the main fight: Rafael Dos Anjos will try to get close to the welterweight title and join the “two-time champions” club against Robbie Lawler, former owner of the category belt. Former featherweight champion José Aldo also fights on the same night, facing Ricardo Lamas in a rematch. Glover Teixeira will also be in action and measure forces with Misha Cirkunov.
