Dana White admits that UFC may start promoting boxing fights

Company president was open to the possibility after superfight between McGregor and Mayweather

The super fight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather, held on August 26th under boxing rules, seems to have opened the minds of UFC officials. Dana White, president of the organization, admitted that one day Ultimate could start promoting boxing fights alongside MMA. In an interview with the “Wall Street Journal” podcast “The Unnamed Podvideocast”, White said that he is thinking about bringing the UFC to boxing, but indicated that this is only a possibility for the distant future.

“I can see us bringing boxing under our umbrella, and seeing what we could do with this sport. I can see this happening”, declared the American.

An avowed fan of the noble art, the director revealed that, after the sale of Ultimate, he had been approached to become a boxing promoter, but said he preferred to remain in the UFC.

“This is what I love to do. I'm 48 years old. I wake up from bed jumping every day precisely to do what I do. I love working with Ari (Emanuel, CEO of WME-IMG, new owner of UFC). We get along very well. He and Patrick, his partner, are very good. I couldn’t be in a better position,” she assured.

Recently, Dana White was involved in negotiations for a superfight between Mayweather and McGregor, along with the “Money” team. The president was praised by directors of Mayweather Promotions for his aggressiveness when negotiating. The UFC officially co-promoted the superfight.
