Considered one of the main promises in the welterweight division, the Nigerian Kamaru Usman, who last September brutally knocked out the Brazilian Serginho Moraes, he already has a date, place and opponent defined for his return to the Octagon. At 29 years old, Kamaru has a record of 11 wins and one loss.
Meek, in turn, has only one fight in Ultimate: he beat Canadian Jordan Main at UFC 206, in December 2016. Previously, he had gained prominence by knocking out Rousimar Palhares, known as Toquinho, in just 45 seconds at Venator FC 3, in Italy. In total, the European fighter has nine triumphs and two setbacks in his professional record.
This was the seventh duel announced for the UFC 219 card. Previously, six fights were already confirmed: Dominick Cruz x Jimmie rivera, Carlos Condit x Neil Magny, Cynthia calvillo x Carla esparza, Louis Smolka x Matheus Nicolau, Myles Jury x Rick Glenn and Khalil rountree x Gokhan Saki.
