Former UFC heavyweight champion, junior gypsy trained to face the promise Francis Ngannou when he was notified by USADA that he had failed a drug test. The Brazilian said he was “devastated” by the news, believes in contamination of some supplement and guarantees that he maintains his support in relation to the regulatory body’s actions in the UFC.

In an interview with the Combate channel website, Cigano gave details of how he discovered that he had failed the exam and reiterated that he believes in contamination, as the amount of diuretic found in his urine was very small.
“We called the UFC people the other day (after the USADA notification) and they showed us that it had been a diuretic. And even a very small amount would not even act as a diuretic in my body. It even took me a long time to pee and it wouldn't be acting as a diuretic on the day of the test. But they found the substance, and once they found it, the rule for one is the rule for all. No matter how small the quantity found. Which certainly shows that it was contamination. They had nothing to do other than notify me and take me out of the fight”, commented the former champion, who still guarantees that he is clean and supports USADA.
“I was devastated right from the start. I have always fought in favor of USADA, I have always said how much I support it, and how much I support drug-free sport, fair sport. I have always played a fair game, I have a clear conscience. Now everything is under investigation, but that's another problem, because I have no idea where this came from, and now it's up to me to prove my innocence, and that's kind of strange (…) Obviously I'm being the victim of some situation that I don't know either. I still know what it is. I am receiving immense support from people not only at USADA, but also at the UFC, in the search for answers”, he assured.
