During the last week, Kevin Lee admitted that he needed to lose almost 10 kg. To face Tony Ferguson in the main fight of UFC 216 last Saturday (7). After a lot of sacrifice, the North American reached the lightweight limit, but suffered from his opponent's pace and ended up defeated by submission in the third round. After the fight, Lee refused to blame the difficult weight cut for the loss, but indicated that he should move up to welterweight.

In the post-fight press conference, the “Motown Phenom” declared that he would make weight, even if he had to “cut a leg off”, as he didn't want to disappoint the fans and Ultimate.
“I’m not going to let this defeat stop what I want. I will be world champion. I'm only 25 years old. The weight cut was very tough, but I wasn't going to disappoint the UFC and the fans. I would make weight even if I had to cut off a foot. I have a job to do. I'm a professional and I'll show up no matter how much it hurts (…) Now I weigh 84 kg. and I feel a little too big for that category. I think it’s time to move up a division”, declared the American, giving all possible praise to his rival.
“He is the rightful champion. I tried to make a “dirtier” fight. I wanted him to know that this would be a fight at the end of the first round. You have to finish this guy off. He doesn't give up. He kept coming up and pressing. And he did what a champion should do. I wish Ferguson the best. Today, he is the best in the world”, he assured.
