If when he wasn't even champion, Tony Ferguson already provoked Conor McGregor, now, after winning the interim lightweight belt, the chase will certainly increase. And it started last Saturday (07), right after finishing Kevin Lee in the main fight of UFC 216, in Las Vegas (USA). At the post-triumph press conference, El Cucuy fired a shot at McGregor, demanding that the Irishman accept a duel to unify the category's titles.

“Conor, you are a son of a… fake. I'm right here. You can't get away from it by talking. We have to unify the belt”, declared Tony.

When it came to winning against Lee, Ferguson changed his stance. Visibly emotional, the champion dedicated the achievement to his family and friends, ensuring that his goal is not just the belt, but also joining the select group of fighters who are part of the UFC's 'Hall of Fame'.

“It was the opportunity of a lifetime. It's amazing to represent myself and my team and, above all, my family and friends. It's an incredible chance to be able to demonstrate that I couldn't return in March. I wanted to be one of the first to fight at the T-Mobile Arena. It didn't happen, and I was very frustrated. I had to go back to square one and have the humility to know that I would have to fight to build my way to this fight. I'm very excited. This belt is heavy, but my shoulders are strong and will hold it for a long time. Ten wins are better than nine. Ten consecutive victories. I still hold the record for most consecutive wins in lightweight history. My goal is not the belt, it's the Hall of Fame. I want to leave a great legacy for my son. I fight so he doesn’t have to fight,” he concluded.
