Patron saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick is celebrated on March 17th, a date that falls on a Saturday next year – the day of the week that Ultimate normally organizes its events. The coincidence could help Kavanagh achieve his dream.
“UFC 219 (December 30) will definitely not see Conor return. I don't know how things start, but they gain traction at some point. McGregor's manager called me and said he was in meetings all day. If I could choose, and I reiterate that it is only my choice and no input, I would want Conor to face Nate diaz in March. My mind thinks of St. Patrick's Day, in New York, with the trilogy against Diaz. It would be incredible. That’s my desire,” Kavanagh told reporter Mike Sheridan, at the launch of a clothing line in Dublin.

The two faced each other in March last year, at UFC 196, when the North American submitted “Notorious” in the second round. In August of the same year, the two had a rematch, won in a decision by Conor McGregor.
