Paulão is hospitalized in Rio de Janeiro

In an interview with the website Sherdog, the businessman of Paulo Filho, Jorge Guimarães, known as Joinnha, informed that the Brazilian is admitted to a rehabilitation clinic in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, for treatment of chemical dependency and depression.

Paulão would defend his WEC title on March 26th, but recently, he reported that due to suffering from depression he would only fight in June, however, the organization's website and Ed Soares, another manager of the black belt, stated that the fight would be made this month. Now with the hospitalization, Joinha said that the WEC agreed to schedule the fight for June

“We tried our best with Paulão, but he won't fight in the WEC. After 48 hours in hospital he feels better, but will only leave when he is 100%. The WEC team was fantastic with us. They understood the situation and Paulão will defend his belt in June. Paulão also realized that his friends are real, and he took this lesson seriously. He will return victorious from this difficult moment and he will be supported, as mentioned, by his true friends”, concluded Joinha.
