“I actually prefer Cody to win, because I would like to face him in a rematch for the belt. I think it would be a great fight. He's been talking a lot about his back pain, but you can't run away from the fight, welcome to what it means to be a champion. I already said this after our fight, it's one thing to win the title, it's another thing to keep it, deserve it, defend it. He's had it for a year and still hasn't defended it. Now, he needs to show himself and fight,” he declared, in an interview with the UFC Unfiltered podcast.

Afterwards, he defended Urijah faber at UFC 199, in June of the same year. The Dominador, as he is known, had already won the inaugural bantamweight title in 2011, but, after three defenses, he was removed from his post due to numerous injuries that kept him away from the octagon for almost three years. With 22 wins and just two losses in his career, he won five fights and lost one in Ultimate.
