Nor the start of the duel for the linear flyweight title, between Demetrious Johnson and Ray Borg, changed the status of Tony Ferguson x Kevin Lee. The fight, valid for the interim lightweight title, remains the main attraction of UFC 216, scheduled for October 7th, in Las Vegas.

Ultimate released the official poster in which the main focus is given to Ferguson and Lee, confirming that Johnson x Borg will be the co-main fight of the night. Fans criticized the “demotion” of the flyweight title, since in addition to the dispute being for the linear and not interim belt, the duel could be historic for Demetrious Johnson. If he wins, “Mighty Mouse” will become the champion with the most consecutive title defenses in history.
Currently, Johnson shares the record with Anderson Silva: Both defended their titles 10 times. If he beats Ray Borg, DJ will isolate himself as the most dominant champion in UFC history. Although rumors suggest that he could move up to bantamweight after Borg, the American recently assured that he intends to “pulverize” the record, reaching 15 or 16 consecutive defenses of his belt.
In addition to the two title fights, UFC 216 also marks the return of the Brazilian Fabricio Werdum, who will seek to recover from the defeat to alistair overeem before Derrick Lewis.
