Houston belittles Thiago Silva's victory

Very common in the MMA world are the excuses given by some fighters after defeats, even more so when they come in a devastating way. The setback by technical knockout in the first round, after the judge's interruption when Thiago Silva threw a series of punches at Houston from mount, generated one of those excuses.

The American, known for having heavy hands and great power to knock out opponents, was limited on the ground during the fight, where the Brazilian from Team Link imposed the game without difficulty. Criticized after the defeat for ignoring his preparation on the ground, the fighter refuted these allegations, diminishing Thiago's performance.

“I've been training Jiu-Jitsu with Bob Shermer, who is one of the best in the world in the art. For some reason during this terrible period when I was in the ring, I left aside everything I learned for three months. I consider myself very good at jiu-Jitsu actually, but at that moment I wasn't myself, I didn't do anything. I was having a bad day. In my gym I've had much tougher fights than that day,” the athlete told the American website Punchdrunkgamer.
