Businessman says Jacaré should face Weidman in 2017

Gilberto Faria, Jacaré's manager, revealed that the Brazilian could face Weidman in the coming months

Without fighting since April this year, when he was knocked out by Robert whittaker, Ronaldo Jacare his return to the Octagon may be announced soon. According to Gilberto Faria, the Brazilian fighter's manager, the intention is that his athlete's next challenge will be a duel against Chris Weidman, preferably still in 2017.

“I believe Weidman's (Jacaré's) next fight will be at the end of December or beginning of January, if it's good for the UFC to schedule that fight. When we get closer to the date we will be able to see more clearly what options Jacaré has”, he declared, in an interview with the 'MMA Fighting' website.

In the UFC since 2013, Jacaré, 37, competed nine fights in the organization, winning seven, including knockout and Vitor belfort and conclusions about Gegard Mousasi and Tim Boetsch, and lost two, to Yoel romero in contested decision and Whittaker. In total, he has a record of 24 wins, five losses and no contest.

Weidman, in turn, is coming off a recent submission victory over Kelvin Gastelum, in July this year, breaking a bad streak of three consecutive defeats. Former middleweight champion, he reached the top of the division by knocking out Anderson Silva twice, both in 2013. He also defended his belt twice by beating Lyoto Machida and knock out Vitor belfort, but was dethroned when he was knocked out by Luke Rockhold. At 33 years old, he has 14 triumphs and three setbacks as a professional (10-3 in the UFC).
