After returning to the octagon in triumphant fashion by knocking out David Branch in the main fight of UFC Pittsburgh, held last Saturday (16), Luke Rockhold is already setting its next goals. Former middleweight champion (up to 84kg), the fighter surprised by revealing that he should soon move up to the light heavyweight division (up to 93kg), but highlighted that the change will only happen when his training partner Daniel Cormier retire or return to fight at heavyweight.

“I'm going to be light heavyweight. The weight cut was difficult, I'm not going to lie. It always was, but I got bigger this time. I don't get this big normally. I was more or less 93 kg, I normally weigh 91 kg. For some reason I got heavier and I had to feel it there. But I would love to move up to light heavyweight. I train very well in the gym, it's more natural for me. I think I would do good things. (…) Daniel Cormier is obviously the guy in the division right now. I'm not going up until he leaves. If he moves up (to heavyweight) or retires, then I can guarantee that I will go there. But I have business here (in the middleweights) before,” he declared, in an interview with the 'FloCombat' website.

Luke Rockhold, 32 years old, won the middleweight belt at UFC 194, in December 2015, with a knockout over Chris Weidman. However, he was dethroned by Michael Bisping in his first title defense, six months later. In Ultimate, he had eight fights, with six wins and two losses. In total, he has 16 positive results and three negative results in his professional record, including winning the now-defunct Strikeforce belt.

Fatal change? Makhachev ignores warning and could end tragically at welterweight!
