After seeing junior gypsy provisionally suspended due to a possible violation of UFC anti-doping policy, Francis Ngannou was left without an opponent for UFC 215. After being officially removed from the event, the Cameroonian revealed that he tried to arrange a fight with alistair overeem, who was recovering from an injury and was unable to accept the challenge. Now, however, the Dutchman guarantees that he wants to face the heavyweight phenomenon.

Through his official Twitter, “The Reem” declared that he will not let Ngannou jump the queue towards a title shot – after leaving UFC 215, the Cameroonian even challenged the champion Stipe Miocic.
“I heard someone is trying to jump the queue. I cannot allow something like this to happen. Francis Ngannou, let’s fight!”, said Overeem.
Soon after reading the Dutchman's challenge, Ngannou was tougher in his response and warned his rival to be careful, because if he continued “talking shit…” he would be destroyed with one of his punches. The duel is not official, but the two are the athletes closest to a chance at the belt, as Cain Velásquez continues to recover from a series of injuries and the former champion Fabricio Werdum comes from a defeat to Overeem himself – the Brazilian will try to recover against Derrick Lewis at UFC 216.
