The Brazilian Thiago Marreta he was close to having his first main fight in the UFC, but he will have to settle for a lower place in a home event and another opponent: Jack hermansson. The middleweight was supposed to face Michal Materla at UFC Poland, but his opponent withdrew from signing with Ultimate and he was “passed on” to UFC Sao Paulo, which takes place at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium, on October 28th, when he will test his strengths against the Swede.

The announcement was made this Monday (4) by Ultimate itself, who did not reveal whether Marreta will be part of the main portion of the show or will be part of the preliminary card. The Brazilian recently recovered from a series of defeats with two knockout victories, over Jack Marshmann and Gerald meerschaert. He is currently 15th in the middleweight rankings. Hermansson is also going through a good moment. Still out of the rankings, the Swede also comes from two important victories, over Brad Scott and Alex Nicholson.
O UFC Sao Paulo, the organization's last event in Brazil in 2017, will see the return of Lyoto Machida, suspended for the last 18 months. The former light heavyweight champion faces Derek Brunson in the main fight of the show, in a middleweight duel. Also in action will be names like Glover Teixeira, Demian Maia and Augusto Tanquinho, who face Misha Cirkunov, Colby covington and Boston Salmon, respectively.
