Away from social media since last week, Conor McGregor, finally, he spoke again to his fans. Through a long post, the Irishman adopted a thoughtful speech and thanked Floyd Mayweather for the duel fought last Saturday (26), in Las Vegas (USA), and won by knockout by his rival. Without provocation, he praised 'Money's' qualities, suggesting that the North American would be successful in MMA.

“Congratulations to Floyd for the good fight. Lots of experience and methodical in his work. I hope he has a good retirement. Your experience, your patience and your endurance won this fight. I always told him that he was not a fighter, but the boxer. But after sharing the ring with him, he sure is a solid fighter. Strong in the clinch. Great understanding of fighting and head movement. He has some strong tools that he could bring to the MMA game for sure. Here's a whiskey toast to everyone involved in this event and everyone who enjoyed it. Thank you and see you next time,” he concluded.

It is not yet confirmed what McGregor's future will be in the fighting world, but the tendency is for him to return to the UFC. In Ultimate, he hasn't even put his belt on the line yet: he hasn't played since November 2016, when he won the lightweight title by knocking out Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205. In the company since 2013, there are nine wins and just one defeat at home, including the historic 13-second knockout of José Aldo, which earned him the featherweight title.

“I'm back after a few days of madness. Thank you to all the fans for supporting the fight and the event. Without this support, we, the fighters, are nothing. Thank you all.

Thank you to my team of coaches and training partners. I had an incredible team, and I had a pleasant and incredible camp. Honestly, I feel that with some small changes in certain areas of preparation, we would have been able to build the engine to run at full load for 12 rounds under a lot of stress, and we would have achieved a better result that night.

Reaching 12 rounds in training was the challenge in the camp. We started slowly, reaching the 12th round reducing the stress as we got closer to it. Given the time we had to prepare – 10 weeks – we had to do it this way. If I started going straight to the 12th round with high stress, I would end up hitting a wall, not progressing as I should and potentially not being able to fight. If we had had a little more time, we would have reached the 12 rounds well, even with a lot of stress, and we would have gone through the last rounds of the fight. I think every decision we made, at every moment, was the right one. I'm proud of everyone on my team for what they were able to do in such a short amount of time.

Fighting for 30 minutes was the longest I've ever managed, in the ring or in the cage, surpassing my record of 25 minutes. I'm happy for the experience and the great lessons that I take with me, to implement them in my next camps. A lesson every day!

Congratulations to Floyd for putting on a great fight. He demonstrated that he had a lot of experience and was methodical in his work. I wish him all the best in retirement. He is a great boxer. His experience, patience and resistance gave him victory, without a doubt. I always told him he wasn't a fighter, but a boxer. But after sharing the ring with him, I can say he's a solid fighter. Strong in the clinch, total understanding of the fight and head positioning. Floyd has solid resources that he could take to MMA, without a doubt.

A whiskey toast to everyone involved in this event, and to everyone who enjoyed it. Thank you all. Let’s go to the next one!”
