Coach reveals that Aldo plans to go boxing: 'He has this dream'

José Aldo He hasn't even defined what his next UFC challenge will be, but the future of his career seems to already be defined. André Pederneiras, leader of the Nova União gym and the Brazilian's main trainer, once again stated that his pupil has the dream of competing professionally in boxing, and that is why he is planning to migrate to the noble art after the end of his contract with Ultimate.

“He is training boxing because he has the dream of competing in boxing professionally. If it were up to him, he would fight all the remaining fights on his UFC contract in three months and switch to boxing. He wants to box professionally”, declared Dedé, in an interview with the website 'MMA Fighting'.

As for Aldo's future in the UFC, the expectation is that the former champion will be selected for a card in 2017. According to Pederneiras, his pupil still dreams of regaining the featherweight belt.

“We are waiting for the UFC. We are trying to fix this fight, against the Cub swanson or some other athlete. He wants to face someone well ranked and wait for an opportunity to fight for the belt”, she concluded.

At 30 years of age, José Aldo He is the greatest champion in the history of the featherweight division. After defending his belt seven times, he was dethroned when he was knocked out by Conor McGregor at UFC 194, in December 2015. Afterwards, he beat Frankie Edgar at UFC 200, in 2016, and regained the interim belt in the 66 kg division, which became linear after his tormentor moved to lightweight. However, in his last fight, at UFC 212, last June, he lost the title again after being knocked out by Max Holloway “at home”, in Rio de Janeiro. In total, he has a record of 26 wins and only three defeats.
