Dana White comes to Conor McGregor's defense: 'I'm proud of him'

Shortly after being knocked out by Floyd Mayweather in the boxing superfight held in the early hours of this Sunday (27), in Las Vegas (USA), Conor McGregor was defended by the boss. Dana White, president of the UFC, stated that he is proud of the Irishman's performance, who managed, at least at the beginning of the fight, to balance his actions against one of the best of all time in the noble art.

“I'm proud of Conor. The fight was completely different from what I expected. Conor threw jabs at Floyd, punches to the body, uppers. I thought he was fantastic and I'm proud of him”, declared the manager, in a press conference after the fight.

Dana also defended the Irishman when it came to physical preparation, as Conor was visibly tired after the fifth round. According to the president of Ultimate, the fact that McGregor had never fought under boxing rules influenced his performance.

“When you get into professional boxing, and you start with four rounds, six rounds, ten rounds. He started with 12. McGregor is a great fighter, he put everything in there, he was in the ring. The great ones always take risks and Conor McGregor That’s how it is,” concluded White.
