Cormier rules out friendship with Jon Jones: 'We don't have to be friends'

Jon Jones well that he was willing to start a friendship com Daniel Cormier, but the relationship will not be built. And the one who guarantees this is DC himself, defeated by 'Bones' on two occasions, the most recent at UFC 214, last July. According to the former champion, there is no need for any rapprochement between them, just mutual respect.

“I believe he was genuine. I believe he is trying to show that he is a different person than he was in the past. That said, friendship will be very difficult for us because of our history. And I'm ok with that. I've always said that we don't have to be friends”, declared Cormier, in an interview with the North American channel 'Fox'.

Although he has not shown interest in getting closer to Jones, Cormier emphasizes that he maintains respect for his rival, whom he still hopes to face on a third opportunity.

“I have all the respect for the competitor he is, I even congratulated him for doing his job well on July 29th, but we are going to be professionals because we have to be that until the cage door closes again”, he concluded.
