Lyoto Machida asked to fight at home and was rewarded. After more than two years away from the Octagon, the Dragon is scheduled to face Derek Brunson in the main fight of UFC Sao Paulo, on October 28th, at the Ibirapuera gym. The information was given first-hand on the Combate channel website.

At 39 years old, Machida is coming off two consecutive defeats, to Luke Rockhold by completion, and Yoel romero, by knockout. He even challenged for the middleweight belt in 2014, but was defeated in a unanimous decision by Chris Weidman. In the UFC, there are 14 victories – including one over Rashad evans, in 2009, which earned him the light heavyweight title – and seven setbacks. In total, his professional record has 22 positive results and seven negative results.
Brunson, in turn, is coming off a knockout victory over Dan Kelly, achieved in June of this year. The triumph broke a streak of two defeats for the North American, who had lost to Robert whittaker, in November 2016, and Anderson Silva, last February. At 33 years old, he has eight triumphs and three setbacks in Ultimate.
