Shortly after regaining the light heavyweight title against Daniel Cormier at UFC 214, Jon Jones surprised by challenging Brock Lesnar, former Ultimate Heavyweight Champion and currently in WWE. “Bones” admits that, during his suspended period, he was inspired by the provocations of Conor McGregor to suggest a superfight against Lesnar.

He said he was amazed by the Irishman's ability to promote himself to the point of getting a fight against one of the greatest boxers in history in Floyd Mayweather, despite having no experience in professional boxing.

PUBLICITY:

“This fight (between Mayweather and McGregor) will make a lot of money. I think, honestly, I was inspired by Conor McGregor. Be bold, seek ever higher levels. Me against Brock Lesnar It's a bit like Mayweather vs. McGregor. People might think I'm going to lose to Lesnar because he's very athletic. He was the North American high school wrestling champion in the first division. Okay, he's older, but he's a monster. A rare talent. I don’t know what the bets would be for this fight, if it happens”, commented Jones, in an interview with the North American program “Jim & Sam Show”.

When commenting further on his chances in an eventual fight against Lesnar, the light heavyweight champion compared the duel to the story of David and Goliath.

PUBLICITY:

“I want to, like, do the impossible. I want to be the David to the Goliath, in the same way that McGregor is daring to be the David to the Goliath that is Mayweather. And you know what? Even if I don't emerge victorious, then I will have more courage than the average person. But if you win, the glory that comes with beating a Mayweather or a Lesnar is enormous,” he declared.
