Upon learning of the challenge, Belfort didn't let it go. Through social media, the Brazilian not only accepted the North American's challenge, but also provoked him, saying that he would be knocked out with a smile on his face, a trademark of the fighter, who became known for his charismatic manner.
“We’re going to fight in (Las) Vegas. You will make history: you will be the first man to be knocked out with a smile on your face. UFC, you can send the contract”, wrote Vitor.
Belfort has not performed since June of this year, when he defeated Nate Marquardt at UFC 212, breaking a streak of three fights without victories, including two knockouts and one fight with no result. At 40 years old, the Rio native still has one more fight left on his contract with the UFC, but he highlighted that he is thinking about the possibility of renewing his contract for another five fights.
Alvey, in turn, goes through ups and downs in the organization. Before his triumph over Rashad, he had lost on points to Thales leites, last April. In Ultimate since 2014, he has already had 12 fights in the franchise, with eight positive results and four negative results.
