Cub swanson reacted with irony upon learning of the José Aldo's interest in facing him. Through his Twitter account, the North American recalled that he has been trying to fight the Brazilian for eight years, but never received the opportunity. Even without saying it directly, Cub's 'outburst' may have been in relation to never having received the chance to fight for the featherweight belt, which was almost always in Aldo's possession.

“I’ve been trying to fight Aldo for eight years and all of a sudden he wants to do it now,” Swanson wrote on social media.
Aldo and Swanson already faced each other in the now-defunct WEC, in 2009. On that occasion, the Brazilian needed just 8 seconds to knock out his rival, after landing a beautiful flying knee. In the UFC, however, the rematch never happened, although Swanson has always been part of the division's elite.
Since 2011 in Ultimate, Swanson, 33 years old, has competed in 13 fights in the company, totaling ten positive results and three negative ones, having even received six performance bonuses for the night. His most recent performance was in April this year, when he achieved his fourth consecutive victory by defeating Artem Lobov by unanimous decision.
