The welterweight champion Tyron woodley was harshly criticized by Dana White, president of Ultimate, for his performance in his duel against Demian Maia, which took place at UFC 214, last Saturday (29). After being mocked by Dana, who said that no MMA fan would pay to see him fight, Woodley did not hide his dissatisfaction with the situation. Outraged, he demanded a public apology from his boss, threatening to 'leak information' from the organization.

“He owes me a public apology. Are you going to publicly criticize me, Dana White? Then you owe me a public apology. I’ve done nothing but good things for the sport. I was nothing but a good example for the f***ing organization. I go in there and fight with integrity. I covered your sport as an analyst on TV the week before my fight. I always fulfill my responsibilities to the organization. You need to be a man and apologize to me publicly. And if I don't get that, I'm going to start leaking some s*** that people don't want out there. I am not kidding. They know what I’m talking about”, said Woodley, in an interview with the podcast “The MMA Hour”.

However, it wasn't just Dana who was angry with Woodley. Much booed by the audience at the Honda Center arena, in Anaheim (USA), the champion questioned the fans' reaction, claiming he had only done his job inside the Octagon.

“No one criticized the Demian Maia. “Why didn't you hit more than Tyron? Why didn't you change faces with him? Why didn't you exchange blows? Why didn’t you press on and hit him?” But I'm the champion, I take the criticism. No one criticized the Stephen Thompson. I heard Dana White say to Stephen Thompson, “Ah, don’t let the fans bother you, I wanted to see them get in there with Tyron woodley.” I have never heard these things (said in my favor). I never got the, “Hey, I take responsibility for the team's defeat. Sage Northcutt, I knew he had the flu, I shouldn’t have let him fight.” Everyone gets excuses for them, but I'm the fighter that's here against all odds, against all critics, still with my hat on, still with the boos, with everything, going out there and doing my job. I need respect,” concluded Tyron.
