the return of José Aldo to the octagon seems to be close to happening. Without fighting since last June, when he lost the featherweight belt to Max Holloway at UFC 212, in Rio de Janeiro, the Rio native states that his desire is to get back into action as quickly as possible, but without the pressure of thinking about the title. According to Aldo, a duel against Cub swanson, number 4 in the ranking, would be ideal for your next challenge.

“It’s not even a desire, there’s no reason not to be… Cub (Swanson) is a guy who is well-established now. So, God willing, we will arrive and fight with him. He's a guy who is well ranked for us to fight in the next fight. I think firstly I want to fight as soon as possible, I want to maintain the rhythm now mainly, so I don't see any problem. And I believe it is a new story. First I want to fight again, I'm not thinking about the belt right now, I'm not addicted to it. I respect every athlete, my next step is to return to the octagon, win again, and then sit down with the UFC and decide the best way out”, declared the former champion, in an interview with 'Lance!'.
Aldo and Swanson already faced each other in the now-defunct WEC, in 2009. On that occasion, the Brazilian needed just 8 seconds to knock out his rival, after landing a beautiful flying knee. In the UFC, however, the rematch never happened, although Swanson has always been part of the division's elite.
In Ultimate since 2011, Aldo, curiously, never fought in the organization if it weren't for the belt – in the ten fights he had, all were for the featherweight title. Now, however, the focus is on competing again and then thinking about the top of the category again.
“I think now the flame of fighting has lit up again. I went back to being that fighter with blood in my eyes, so we're already thinking about coming back and fighting for the title again in the future. Because of the love I've been receiving from the fans, every word of encouragement and affection towards me, I'm very happy and this motivates me more and more to fight again and have a sparkle in my eyes, so that we can get back to aim for the belt in the future. So for now I don’t see myself thinking about retirement, but in a few years I can stop and enjoy life a little”, he concluded.
