Three days after guarantee that Georges St. Pierre would return to the Octagon to face the winner of Tyron Woodley vs. Demian Maia, a duel that took place in the early hours of this Sunday (30), in Anaheim, at UFC 214, Dana White, president of the UFC, changed his mind. After an unconvincing victory for the current champion, who beat the Brazilian in a unanimous decision by the judges, the director assured that the North American does not deserve to face the Canadian. As a bonus, he guaranteed that GSP will face Michael Bisping on his return, current middleweight champion. The confrontation, however, does not yet have a date to take place.

“Yes, this fight will happen. We don't have any dates yet, but Bisping will face Georges St Pierre. That's because I know Bisping is going to get out there and fight. He will appear in the octagon and will fight. Tyron woodley broke a negative record today. I talked to him and explained to him – you were booed today. He was faster, had stronger hands and fought a guy with only one eye. People don’t want to see him fight and that’s not a good sign”, declared Dana, in a press conference after UFC 214.

Bisping won the middleweight belt with a knockout Luke Rockhold at UFC 199, in June 2016. Since then, he has only performed once, when he defended his title against Dan Henderson at UFC 204 last October. In total, there are 20 positive results and seven negative results in the organization.

St. Pierre hasn't fought since November 2013, when he beat John hendricks. After the triumph, in a tight decision by the judges, he announced his indefinite retirement from MMA. He has a professional record of 25 wins and two losses. In the UFC, he has accumulated 20 triumphs and two setbacks, with nine title defenses in the welterweight category, which made him the most dominant champion in the history of the 77kg division.
