Even though she is focused on the possibility of becoming featherweight world champion at UFC 214 this Saturday (29), Chris Cyborg admits he may box in the future. The Brazilian has been training with the two-time Olympic champion Claressa shields in preparation for her duel against Tonya Evinger and discovered a new passion in the noble art.

“I really like boxing, it was great to work with Claressa, an Olympic champion, and I always want to train with the best. I come from MMA, there's a lot to learn in boxing, but it's good to train with someone who has a better level in another specialty than yours. It gives me the opportunity to improve my boxing, it's perfect (…) We will continue training together, after my fight I want to go to Michigan to participate in her boxing training camp and improve my game. Who knows, in the future, I might have a boxing match”, declared Cyborg in an interview with the “Revista Combate” program.

Despite falling in love with boxing, the Brazilian remains focused on MMA. She will face, on Saturday, the American Tonya Evinger, Invicta bantamweight champion and with a lot of experience. Cyborg warns about the quality of his opponent, rejects being unbeatable and says he has his eyes on the “Fight of the Night” award.

“Tonya will be a great opponent, Megan anderson She doesn't have as much experience as Tonya, who is the champion of the lower division at Invicta, so maybe it could even be the fight of the night (…) I'm really looking forward to this fight, but I try not to think about the pressure that exists. I focus more on doing what I do in the gym every day and the belt will be a consequence. I don't think I'm unbeatable and that motivates me to train more and more. I always train as if I were the number 1 contender fighting for the belt. Even though I'm champion, I never stopped training, trying to evolve my game, I know that my opponents study me to find a way to beat me, so I can't stop in time”, she commented.
