After debuting at welterweight on the right foot, Rafael dos Anjos already has a new commitment in the up to 77kg category. He faces the North American Neil Magny, number 6 in the division, at UFC 215, September 9, in Edmonton, Canada.

Rafael dos Anjos, 32 years old, won the lightweight belt in March 2015, when he beat Anthony Pettis and defended the title against Donald Cerrone, in December of the same year. Rafa was chosen to face Conor McGregor in a superfight, but ended up getting injured and only returned to the octagon in July 2016, when he was surprised by Eddie Alvarez and lost the title. He then lost again, this time to Tony Ferguson, last November. After the setback, he decided to move up to welterweight, where he has already beaten Tarec saffiedine, in June this year. In total, the Brazilian has a professional record of 26 wins and nine losses.
Magny, 28 years old, has been in Ultimate since 2013, but has already had 16 fights in the organization, totaling 12 wins and four defeats. His last performance was in December 2016, when he defeated the former welterweight champion John hendricks. It will be the sixth time that Magny faces a Brazilian in the UFC. Before, he beat Rodrigo de Lima, William Patolino e Erick silva, but was completed by Serginho Moraes e Demian Maia.
In addition to Dos Anjos, six more Brazilians are confirmed on the UFC 215 card. The women's bantamweight champion Amanda nunes puts his belt on the line in the rematch against Valentina Shevchenko, the heavyweights Junior Gypsy and Luis Henrique KLB measure forces with Francis Ngannou and Arjan Bhullar, respectively, the flyweight Wilson reis faces Henry Cejudo, bantamweight Ketlen Scallop, which faces Sara McMann, and lightweight Adriano Martins, who is looking for a comeback against Kajan Johnson. The main fight will be a flyweight title fight between the champion Demetrious Johnson and challenger Ray Borg.
