Considered by many fans as the greatest MMA fighter of all time, Jon Jones He left modesty aside when commenting on his career in the sport. Exuding confidence for the duel against Daniel Cormier, which will take place at UFC 214, this Saturday (29), in Anaheim (USA), the former UFC light heavyweight champion guaranteed that his achievements inside the Octagon put him on a level above everyone else.

“I think I'm already the greatest fighter of all time. My record speaks for itself, I've defeated six Hall of Fame fighters, my resume is incomparable. This fight is huge for my legacy, every fight is huge for the legacy. It is the accumulation of what I do. So, every fight is very important. I try not to look at one fight as more important than another, it's just another confrontation. I focus on what I can do in the octagon, on training, preparing for the fight”, declared the fighter, in an interview with the 'Fox Sports' website (USA).

Next Saturday, Jones will have another great challenge to overcome: the rematch against his arch-rival Daniel Cormier, whom he already beat at the beginning of 2015. Although he has been fighting a real war of provocations with his opponent, 'Bones' guarantees that the outsider will not interfere during the fight.

“I don’t think it influences the way I’m going to fight. I've been fighting for ten years, it's been ten years without being overcome, I've fought with all types of athletes. People I despise, people I have a lot of respect for, and it's always been the same thing for me. I think it will be the same thing this time. I made a conscious effort not to get involved with him, because Daniel is a guy who involves things that have nothing to do with the fight. He talks about my past, about controversial things I was part of. These are things that don't affect what will happen in the fight, and I know that. So, I'm not going to sit here and talk about it. I'm 30 years old, I'm a grown man. Fighting is what really matters. I don’t have much to say to him at this point, I’m going to give my “speech” inside the Octagon”, he concluded.

Jon Jones became the youngest champion in UFC history by knocking out Mauritius Shogun, in 2011. Since then, he has defended his light heavyweight belt eight times, having beaten names like Lyoto Machida, Vitor belfort, Rashad evans, Alexander Gustafasson and Cormier himself. However, he had his belt taken away by the organization due to legal problems. In April 2015, he was involved in a traffic accident and fled without providing assistance, leaving a pregnant woman injured. He returned to the Octagon in April 2016, when he won the interim title by beating Ovince St Preux. However, three months later he was caught in an anti-doping test and received another punishment, leaving him unable to fight for a year. At 30 years old, Jones has a record of 22 wins and just one loss, which happened due to disqualification, after landing illegal blows on Matt Hamill.
