Chris Weidman he is not at all happy with the criticism he has been receiving. After ending the bad phase at the end Kelvin Gastelum in the main fight of UFC Long Island, last Saturday (22), the former middleweight champion once again demanded respect for his achievements inside the octagon, even citing the two victories he achieved against Anderson Silva, when the Brazilian was still considered the best middleweight in the world.

“People forget, but I had a 9-0 record, I fought the Anderson Silva I was fighting the best guys this sport has ever seen, one after another, with virtually no experience. I encountered adversity when I was already on top of the world. Most people encounter adversity when they are early in their careers. For me, the bad phase came when everyone was watching and everyone was commenting and everyone was doubting me. It was a very difficult situation. Every fight I lost felt like I was alone”, declared the fighter shortly after his most recent victory.

The victory against Gastelum puts Weidman back in the running for a chance at the division's belt. Without wasting time, the 'All American' took the opportunity to provoke Michael Bisping, current division champion. According to him, the Englishman is 'running away' from the real challenges in the under-84kg division.

“I want what people want. I know I'm the best in the world, and Bisping is running. He did a good job and won the belt when I gave him that opportunity. Before, he never had a chance to fight for the title. And, since he was champion, he hasn't faced any fighter who was highly ranked. He's running, with some injuries, I don't know what's going on. I'm the true champion, the best in the world and people know it. Now, if Bisping grows some balls, this fight will happen. I know Whittaker did a good job, he won the interim belt, but I think he's injured and will have knee surgery. I'm available and ready to fight, concluded Weidman.
