The blow sealed the end of a life dedicated to competitions. At 35, Roger announced his farewell, and it couldn't have been in a better way.
“It was the most significant victory of my career. For the return to competing in the kimono, for the time I was away, for the first fight I had against Buchecha and for the position he occupies today on the world stage, which is that of the man to beat. I end my career with a flourish”, celebrated the big winner of the event.
The post-fight attitude of the great protagonists of the inaugural edition of the event made the confrontation even more grandiose. After the result, Buchecha made a point of returning to the mat where Roger was still celebrating his triumph to congratulate the winner.
“I made a mistake, and you can't make mistakes against Roger. I paid the price”, analyzed Buchecha. “I'm sure he'll surpass me in terms of world titles, he'll have the most successful career in jiu-jitsu. Now it’s time to raise your head and move forward”, consoled Roger.
