Jon Jones e Daniel Cormier have been using social media to provoke each other in the weeks leading up to the reunion between the two, which will take place at UFC 214 on July 29th. And the former champion made a point of remembering a controversial passage in the career of the current owner of the UFC light heavyweight belt. In his last fight, Cormier was caught leaning on a towel during the official weigh-in for his duel against Anthony Johnson at UFC 210. As the Athletic Commission didn't notice anything, the weight was made and DC fought, submitting “Rumble” again.

However, Cormier's weigh-in attracted a lot of criticism and the committees started paying more attention. Jones, on the other hand, preferred to make fun of his enemy's mistake and took a photo in which he appears, with coaches and training partners, “recreating” what happened to his arch-rival. In the caption, more provocations directed at DC.
“All the discipline and hard work definitely paid off. I weighed 217 pounds (98,6 kg) today after training. No shortcuts, deserve it idiot cheater”, said Jones, using hashtags to provoke Cormier between the lines.
The two faced each other at UFC 182 in January 2015. On that occasion, Jones dominated DC and won by unanimous decision. Cormier, however, would become champion a few months later, at UFC 187, after “Bones” lost his belt due to problems outside the Octagon. Since then, the former champion has fought just once, winning Ovince St Preux by decision. The current title holder won Alexander Gustafson, Anderson Silva e Anthony Johnson again.
