Less than a week after announcing his departure from the UFC for Bellator, Gegard Mousasi He already has a set date, opponent and location to make his debut in the organization. He faces the company's former middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko in the main fight of Bellator 185, on October 20, in Uncasville (USA). For the same event, the organization also confirmed a light heavyweight fight between King mo and Liam McGeary.

At 31 years old, Mousasi has won five consecutive victories, the last four by knockout: he defeated, in sequence, Thales leites, Thiago Marreta, Vitor belfort, Uriah Hall e Chris Weidman. He has a vast CV, having started his career at the age of 17, in 2003, months before coming of age. He played in major events such as Pride, Dream and Strikeforce, in addition to the UFC. His record is 42 wins, six losses and two draws.
Like Mousasi, Russian Shlemenko also has five consecutive victories. His last performance was last June, when he submitted Brandon Halsey. Alexander won the Bellator middleweight belt in 2013, when he knocked out the Brazilian Maiquel Falcao. He also held three title defenses, but was dethroned when submitted by Halsey, his most recent victim. At 33 years old, he has an impressive record with 66 professional fights, 56 wins, nine losses and one no contest.
