The good phase of Santiago Ponzinibbio remains impeccable. In your first main event in the organization, Argentinian Gente Boa took no notice and needed just 1m22s to knock out Gunnar Nelson in the main fight of UFC Scotland, held this Sunday (16), in Glasgow. This was Ponzinibbio's fifth consecutive victory at welterweight (under 77kg), a performance that places him in the top 10 of the division and increasingly closer to the main names in the weight class. In Ultimate since 2013, he has seven triumphs and two setbacks at home. Nelson, in turn, had a streak of two good results broken, and now has seven wins and three losses in the company.

The celebration of Santiago, as usual, was with a flag that was half Argentine and half Brazilian. In the post-fight interview, the Argentine maintained his usual humility when thanking his team.
“I would like to thank Gunnar Nelson, a very tough guy, he was a big help for me. This guy has a chance to be world champion. I'm grateful for the opportunity to fight the best because I train a lot, and I want to get there. To face him, I needed to train a lot with Katel Kubis. To the entire ATT team, thank you very much. I'm from Argentina, but I live in Brazil. To everyone in Latin America, thank you very much,” he declared.
“I want the best in the world. I'm the best striker in this division, I'm the next champion in this category, I just need time. You can send anyone and I will win”, added the big winner of the night.
The fight
The duel started with the two studying each other, but Gunnar connected with the first good blow, making the Argentine step back. The Icelander connected with another good blow, but was surprised by Santiago, who responded with a very strong right cross at the European, who shook it. Ponzinibbio realized the moment and went all out, connecting another series of blows on Nelson, who fell already surrendered.
