Jon Jones promises rematch with Cormier will be 'watershed'

Former champion thanks fans for their support at a difficult time after losing his belt and being banned for a year after doping

Former UFC light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones will have the opportunity to regain the title he lost outside the octagon at UFC 214, on July 29, against his biggest rival, the current owner of the belt Daniel Cormier. A few weeks before the rematch with DC, “Bones” updated his fans through social media and promised that the duel will be a “watershed” in his career.

When talking about training for the second fight with Cormier, Jones also spoke about his current weight, ensuring that the cut is going well and that he will easily reach 93 kg. limits of the light heavyweight division, in addition to thanking the fans for their support.

Jones and Cormier fought in early 2015, when “Bones” was still the champion. On that occasion, he beat DC by unanimous decision, keeping his belt. However, after problems with the police, the UFC stripped him of his title, and Cormier became the new champion with a victory over Anthony Johnson. The rematch was scheduled for UFC 200, in July last year, but Jones was caught in an anti-doping test days before and suspended for a year.
