Former champion Frank Mir announces that he is no longer a UFC fighter

Former Ultimate heavyweight champion, Mir also highlighted that he is aiming for confrontations with Brock Lesnar or Fedor

One of the biggest names in UFC heavyweight history, Frank mir will no longer fight for the organization. The information was given by the fighter himself, who announced the end of his career in Ultimate. However, he ruled out retiring from MMA, and reaffirmed his desire for a trilogy with Brock Lesnar or even a duel with Fedor Emelianenko

“We reached an agreement and the result was a mutual release. I am currently evaluating all my options. We talked about possible opponents, so I'm more or less thinking about which show offers who to fight. Fedor would be an incredible fight. I think we even talked about Brock. So, there are different ideas and different possibilities,” he declared, in an interview with 'NBC Sports Radio'.

Without fighting since March 2016, when he was knocked out by Mark Hunt, Mir is currently serving a two-year suspension after being caught in an anti-doping test carried out by USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency). The athlete claimed innocence, but was convicted after tests detected the substance Turinabol in his body, an anabolic steroid that increases the athlete's strength with minimal weight gain in the process.
