The California Athletic Commission (CSAC) has implemented a new measure to help ensure athletes keep their health status intact while cutting weight. This week, the organization organized a remote weigh-in for the six fighters involved in UFC 214 title fights, which takes place on July 29th. The information is from the North American website MMA Fighting.

The Commission's idea is to have another “weigh-in” 10 days before UFC 214 and, thus, monitor the athletes' weights to ensure that they will be able to reach the weight limits the day before the event without compromising their health. The initiative is part of a 10-point plan initiated by CSAC that aims to improve weight cutting regulations. “Weigh-ins” weeks before fights are common practices in boxing, especially at the World Boxing Council.

In contact with MMA Fighting, Andy Foster, the organization's executive, said he is satisfied with the numbers found in all the athletes, but did not reveal the weight of any of the six fighters.
