He faces the Russian Saparbek Safarov, on September 2nd, in Rotterdam (HOL), at UFC Netherlands, in a duel valid for the light heavyweight category (up to 93kg). After having problems with the weight cut in his last duels, Brazilian had announced that he would move up to heavyweight, but, in contact with the SUPER FIGHTS, he explained that he adjusted some details in his training and will remain at the weight up to 93kg. Pezão also revealed that the official fight contract has not yet been signed, but the two parties have already reached an agreement.
Participant of TUF Brasil 3, Pezão, 32 years old, alternates between ups and downs in the organization. After knocking out Rick Monster and Igor Pokrajac in their first challenges at home, he has had three wins and three defeats in the last six fights. In its most recent presentation, in April this year, it was completed by Ovince St Preux.
Safarov, in turn, only has one fight in the UFC. He debuted by being knocked out by Gian Villante, last December. At 30 years old, he has eight wins and one loss on his professional record.
