the fight between Chris Cyborg e Megan anderson at UFC 214, valid for the Ultimate featherweight belt, caught Germain de Randamie by surprise. According to the Dutchwoman, even the fact that she was stripped of her position as category champion is something new, as she guarantees that the UFC did not inform her about the decision.

“I had no idea that I was being stripped of the belt. I found out through social media that (Cris) Cyborg will face Megan (Anderson) for the belt. Nobody ever said anything to me about that,” she declared, in an interview with the website 'MMA Fighting' (USA).

On the other hand, the UFC issued an official statement this Monday (19), confirming that it was removing Randemie's belt. According to the text issued, the decision was made due to the Dutchwoman's refusal to face Cyborg, number one challenger in her weight class.

“The UFC informed Germain de Randamie and her managers that she is being removed from the position of featherweight champion due to her constant refusal to face the number one ranked player Chris Cyborg. Consequently, Cyborg will face the recently signed Invicta FC featherweight champion Megan anderson for the UFC featherweight belt in the co-main event of UFC 214: Cormier vs. Jones 2 on July 29 in Anaheim, California. The UFC reiterates that it expects any champion to agree to fight the main challengers in their respective divisions to maintain the integrity of the sport.”
