On the eve of debuting as a welterweight in the UFC, Rafael Dos Anjos, the organization's former lightweight champion, feels better than ever. The little weight cut and the total focus on fighting Tarec saffiedine, UFC Singapore this Saturday (17), contribute to the mood of the Brazilian, who had serious problems during weight-cutting processes in the past.

Before the fight against Eddie Alvarez, in July 2016, RDA fainted while trying to cut the last few grams to reach the 70 kg limit. Before Tony Ferguson, in November, another difficult process. Now needing to weigh in at 77 kg, the Brazilian guarantees that he made the right choice by changing divisions.

“At lightweight I felt like I had nothing left to lose and there were still grams left to make the weight in the category. Now it's easier, with less stress. I'm happy and just thinking about the fight”, commented RDA, in an interview with the North American website “MMA Fighting”, guaranteeing that his strategy against Saffiedine will be the same as always.

“He's a striker, but this is an MMA fight. I have more weapons. I believe in my takedowns and my jiu-jitsu. Of course I'm going to try to take him down, but I'm not going to kill myself trying to take him down. The fight starts on the feet and I'm analyzing what opportunities he's going to give me. But I will be aggressive and always move forward, putting pressure on. That’s how I fight”, he said.
